Responsible for all public works functions including water, wastewater, cemeteries, grounds, parks, solid waste, recycling, maintenance, engineering, environmental management and highway. The department has a budget of $15.4 million and approximately 120 employees. Oversees management of department personnel administration, labor relations, training, staffing and evaluation of employees, administers all division budgets, records and correspondence. Conducts public hearings on department projects, acts as spokesperson for the Town on public works projects.
Reviews all major engineering, design and construction projects, oversees services and other technical assistance to all other Town departments engaged in capital projects. Works with the Planning and Development Department and potential developers to ensure that the planning and development of infrastructure improvements meet Town standards and are consistent with the Town’s policies for future growth. Demonstrated ability to work well with Town officials, interested constituents and Town boards mandatory.
Bachelor of Science degree required and Master’s Degree preferred; ten years progressively responsible experience in municipal public works construction, maintenance, and engineering, five of which are in a management position; strong public administration background highly desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Salary range $88,412 - $108,524, full benefit package.
